steveinsocal "'s hard to argue against "Am Letzen" being probably her most compelling and complete song. Everything here - the analogue tape hiss, haunting cello and soothing piano, Marianne's whispered and weary vocals - portray the fragility of a New Year's Eve dawn's hazy light..." Favorite track: Am Letzen.

Tomás Ford I first saw Marianne Dissard playing an audiovisual alt-country solo spectacular to a tiny crowd at the Rosemount Hotel on a wednesday night. This lady tours HARD. But holy shit - her work is amazing. This album is even better than her previous, L'abandon, which was good enough to make me start learning French. The track Oiseau is amazing - the version on her Cologne Vier Takes is even better, sparer. Favorite track: Oiseau.

Dramatic but never theatrical, this confident album confirms Dissard's evolution from the idiosyncratic mélange of Americana and Chanson that characterized her first two Tucson albums, 'L'Entredeux' and 'L'Abandon', an evolution stamped by her recent live collaborations with Seattle producer Budo and her move to Europe. Recorded with members of Calexico and Giant Sand, written with Sergio Mendoza.

"Meticulous arrangements, wrenchingly emotional musicianship, and Dissard at the top of her uneasy game: an early contender for best album of 2014."
