about

⭕ Tucson is a town of 'working' musicians. Lucky me, that's where I got my start.

Jazz... Sure, we used to play jazz tunes with Matt Mitchell back when I knew so little. Lots of places in Tucson will pay for 3-hr sets of all sorts of music. Gig, a lot, and learn, fast!

Years later, in Ramsgate UK where I moved in 2017, I met another jazz musician. My 80yo sailing instructor! He and his mates had had an old timey ragtime jazz band since the '50s. Sitting in for a gig with them at a fantastically-named 18th-century flint pub, the Tartare Frigate, I met... 'Bill Bailey'.

Earlier this year in Tucson, I reconvened old friends Matt Mitchell, Thøger Lund (of Giant Sand fame), and Marco Rosano (Orkesta Mendoza's secret weapon), and a new one, Iron & Wine (and now Orkesta Mendoza) drummer Beth Goodfellow.

Recorded at Matt Rendon's analog 8-track Midtown Island Studio, these four jazz covers were mixed by Raphael Mann (Sugarcane, Art Terry, Lunatraktors) and mastered by Bill Sellar at LOUD Mastering.

My biggest thanks to them, and to you for listening.
